Police and Immigration Enforcement Act on E‑Bike Safety Concerns in Huddersfield |
||
|
Officers from Huddersfield Neighbourhood Policing Team and Huddersfield's Town Centre Team have been working alongside colleagues from Home Office Immigration Enforcement in a joint operation focused on electric bikes and vehicles used by delivery drivers operating within Huddersfield Town Centre.
This activity follows concerns raised by members of the public and local businesses around the legality and safety of some of these vehicles, particularly in busy pedestrian areas.
During the operation: - A number of delivery drivers were engaged and spoken to regarding the lawful use of electric bikes and associated road safety responsibilities. - One individual was arrested by Immigration Enforcement officers for working whilst not having permission to do so. - Two individuals were issued with verbal warnings in respect of minor vehicle defects. - One individual was issued with a fixed penalty notice for a defective tyre.
This work is part of our ongoing commitment to keeping Huddersfield town centre safe, ensuring vehicles are roadworthy, and addressing wider concerns around lawful working and public safety. | ||
